A randomised comparative study of induction of labour with sublingual misoprostol 50 μg and oral misoprostol 50 μg in term patients

Background: Current study was conducted to compare the efficacy of tab Misoprostol 50 microgram by oral and sublingual routes for induction labour. Methods: A randomised comparative labour in 200 cases pregnant women at term were divided into two groups 100 each µg route repeated 4 hourly either or until an adequate contraction pattern set (establishment 3 uterine contractions a period 10 minutes) once cervical dilatation reaches cm, maximum up 6 doses. The patients monitored maternal vital signs, progress foetal heart rate. Results: In this study, 86% delivered vaginally with misoprostol while 76% administration. present no significant side effects noted group. 4% neonates group 6% required NICU admission. No still birth neonatal deaths seen. Conclusions: Our shows that has better efficacy, shorter delivery interval, requirement fewer doses when compared route.
